Centre for civic education in cooperation with the European Fund for the Balkans and Gallup Balkan Monitor has the honour to invite you to a public discussion ”The end of depression - can the new government use the momentum of returning optimism?”, on Thursday, 3 February 2010.

Following the European Commission’s evaluations of progress of the Western Balkans towards European integration, the new Gallup Balkan Monitor on public opinion in the region offers insights into citizens’ views of the EU.

In order to present and widely acknowledge the results of the Gallup Balkan Monitor, the European Fund for the Balkans in cooperation with Gallup Europe initiates a series of Gallup Balkan Monitor presentations and public discussions in the capitals of Western Balkan countries on the future of the Balkans, its European aspirations and the potential of “attitude change” and Europeanization of the societies in the region.

The event in Montenegro will focus on Montenegrian respondent’s attitudes and perceptions. The Gallup Balkan Monitor investigates public opinion on a broader range of issues, from the satisfaction with life standard and living conditions of citizens, trust in the political parties, courts, NGOs and media, fight against corruption and organized crime, visa liberalization, expectations from the government and attitudes towards EU integration and NATO.

These findings will be discussed by a panel including Ms Slavica Milacic, Secretary for EU integration in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and EU integration, Mr. Robert Manchin, Gallup Europe; Biljana Meshkovska, Program Manager at the European Fund for the Balkans; Mr Stevo Muk, President of the Managing Board of Institute Alternative, Ms Tea Gorjanc Prelevic, Executive Director of the Human Rights Action

The discussion will be moderated by Ms. Daliborka Uljarevic, Executive Director of the Center for Civic Eduction. We would very much appreciate your participation to this event. Please confirm your participation by replying to the email address: ana@cgo-cce.org, by Wednesday, 2 February 2011.
