LDP 7 Group Project Albania: „Today’s children for environment“, 15 of March, Tirana

Leaders for Environmental Awareness and Protection (abbreviated LEAP) are organizing Final event of their project „Today’s children for environment“ on Friday, 15 of March 2013. The event will start at 10.00 in Kristaq Rama, private elementary school in Tirana, and it is comprised of three separate activities. Their aim was to engage elementary school children through a drawing competition in five different countries (Albania, Kosovo, Macedonia, The Netherlands and Serbia) and to focus on environmental activities with different age groups in Tirana. In the previous months over a hundred children from 3 to 6 grade have created drawings depicting good and bad policies of environment protection and have use their imagination and knowledge to express their view on caring for environment. As a result of that contest, a booklet will be published and available online and in print after the final event. The best drawings will be selected and presented at the Drawing exhibition where the winner will be awarded with a bicycle as another example of nature preserving policy. In an effort to play a role model in the care for the environment and putting into practice the things that the children are learing at school, LEAP is also organizing two field activities on 15 March. The children will have the opportunity to first show their care for environment in a creative setting with the help of the art teacher Ena Bulku, followed by tree planting activity in the school yard with the older grades. The event will culminate with the Opening of the Drawing Exhibition, and LEAP would be honoured if you would join us in this celebration of children and environment.
