“EU Accession Negotiations Training” for EFB Community Members

One of the most important outcomes of the Fund’s work in the Western Balkans is the social, human capital gathered through the past programmes and initiatives, assembled within the EFB Community and comprised of government officials, academics, researchers, policy advocates, civil society activists, journalists and students. With the idea of enabling future capacity development of its community members and following the feedback of the previously conducted needs assessment survey, the European Fund for the Balkans is launching a new specifically designed community activity in the form of a series of “Training of Trainers” (ToT) seminars. The first event on the map is the “EU Accession Negotiations Training” that is being held from 5-10 of October in Becici, Montenegro. The training, implemented in cooperation with the Clingendael – Netherlands Institute for International Relations, will offer the possibility for EFB Community Members to gain general knowledge and the techniques necessary to provide training on (EU) negotiations, simulation exercises and first-hand experience in designing, organising and facilitating training sessions for the rest of the EFB Community. As part of the established strategy to keep up a Community that serves as a knowledge- and skills-based platform for long-term professional collaboration and networking of the Community members and their organisations across the Western Balkans, the EFB will now focus on building and strengthening a network of competent and qualified trainers and experts. These experts will acquire the necessary tools and skills to conduct workshops related to the pillar programme activities and target groups of the Fund. These training sessions, based upon the lessons learned in the past seven years, will try to both improve the community members’ skills and work on personal learning objectives as well as further strengthen the linkages among the EFB community members.
