, at the sports and culture space
WE, filling 3 days with short films of great quality, artistic and musical events as well as other interactive activities.
One of its kind, Balkans Beyond Borders Short Film Festival travels every year to a different Balkan city tackling topics of contemporaneity, and focuses on new regional productions, functioning as a stage of supporting and promoting young and emerging filmmakers. This year the festival tackles the theme of urban life and its geometries:
a point of reference: a common space for multiple identities that develop and are defined by historical, urban, political and societal memories.
The competition portion consists of 30 films that have been selected out of 300 submissions from 35 countries. The members of the Pre-selection Committee are: Adela Demetja (Albania), Danijela Radulovic (Montenegro), Muamer Celik (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and Daliah Ziper (Germany), while the Jury consists of: Marija Milovanovic (Austria), Dimitris Savvaidis (Greece) and Ares Shporta (Kosovo).
The
BBB Focus will be a selection of shorts by young Austrian filmmakers with the collaboration of VIS Festival
. All three nights will be accompanied by music events after the screenings. The programme will also be enriched with the
BBB Walk parallel events, where the participants will rediscover the city, and
BBB Dialogues, filled with round tables and workshops. During the festival, there will be a Photo Exhibition at the venue with photos from the Photo Marathon that will be carried out on 29 October. The audience will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite photographer, while the Jury Team of the Photography Community of Aristotle University will award the Best Photographer.
The
