
From January 2026 onwards, Julia von Dobeneck serves as Chair of the EFB Steering Committee. Currently, she leads the Western Balkans peacebuilding strand at the Robert Bosch Stiftung, where she also works on new formats for international cooperation. The Foundation is a key supporter of the EFB and initiated the EFB's "Common Ground Program – Expanding Trust, Solidarity and Dialogue in the Balkans."
Julia is an accomplished professional mediator with extensive experience in peace mediation, peacebuilding, and political consulting, including at the German Bundestag. Her expertise spans advising on peace processes at the German Federal Foreign Office, supporting the establishment of its mediation team, and conceptually advancing peace mediation in Germany for the Center for Peace Mediation/Viadrina University.
Her practical experience includes facilitating municipal-level dialogue in Kosovo and supporting the setup of the Mitrovica Mediation Center for CSSP. As a freelance mediation consultant, she has worked for the OSCE missions in Kosovo and Bosnia-Herzegovina, as well as for the Center for Humanitarian Dialogue (HD). Julia is a co-founder of the Women Mediators Network Germany (WPM) and the Initiative Mediation Support Germany (IMSD), and a Steering Committee member of KoneKtor – Philanthropy East Forum. She has a background in law and media/communication science.
